MIRAK FAMILY NURSERY

The Mirak Family Reforestation Nursery opened in Margahovit village in 2007, sponsored by the Mirak family in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John and Artemis Mirak, genocide survivors who settled in America. The nursery supports ATP’s forestry activities and has the capacity to grow one million tree seedlings. It provides seven tree species and currently employs 15 local villagers full time. Mirak Nursery has produced the majority of seedlings planted in ATP’s forests.

  • Produces up to 1,000,000 high quality forest tree seedlings each year
  • Tree species grown include pine, oak, maple, mountain ash, birch, wild pear, wild apple
  • In 2003, the new 1,008 square meter greenhouse produced containerized forest species which secured the highest survival rates
