Volunteer Opportunities at ATP

ATP Division: Public Outreach (PO)
Supervisor: Public Outreach Coordinator
Date: Summer 2005

PUBLIC OUTREACH

Primary Role: Volunteer assists PO Coordinator in creating and editing English language press releases for the mass media. Volunteer will assist during newsworthy ATP public events, and help to manage press relations and the organization of material for those events under the supervision of the PO Coordinator. Increasing public awareness about environmental issues--particularly among youth and diasporans--is also Volunteer’s responsibility.

The PO Volunteer’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Keep informed of all ATP activities and look for areas of interest to publicize.
  • Assist PO Coordinator in the preparation of press packets and press releases about ATP events, accomplishments, stories of interest, and managing ATP press relations (if Volunteer is not fluent in Armenian, this activity will be performed in English solely).
  • Collaborate closely with PO Coordinator in contributing new ideas and initiatives in the development of public relations strategy.
  • Assist PO Coordinator in researching new funding possibilities.
  • Assist PO Coordinator in ATP visits to various marzes/towns/villages when necessary.
  • Assist with Donor Visits to ATP nursery and community sites.
  • Under the guidance of PO Coordinator, participate in meetings that could result in new partnership opportunities with other local and international organizations. Weekly participation in ATP staff meetings.
  • Assist PO Coordinator and other program managers in Environmental Education tasks as a part of ATP’s strategy in this field.
  • Help PO Coordinator in brochure/invitation/letter delivery in preparation for ATP events.

Candidate should be able to: solve problems, communicate well with a variety of groups and individuals, provide written and oral reports to supervisor as needed and provide weekly reports of the accomplished assignments, and represent ATP professionally to the local/international community, guests, and partners.
