Volunteer Opportunities at ATP

ATP Division: Community Tree Planting (CTP)
Supervisor: CTP Program Manager
Date: Summer 2005

COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING

Primary Role: Volunteer assists Program Manager and CTP Monitors in various assignments as requested, and helps in the implementation of CTP projects. Volunteer is responsible for increasing the effectiveness of work in the organization, as well as for increasing public awareness of environmental issues, working closely with the communities in the regions of Armenia where ATP implements tree planting. Help ATP achieve tree planting and tree care goals, to improve the ecological and economic situation in Armenia.

The CTP Volunteer’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Keep informed about current ATP activities.
  • Assist CTP Program Manager and Monitors during trips where ATP conducts large-scale community tree planting, carrying out tasks and assignments given to him/her by the manager.
  • Assist CTP Monitors in implementing tree planting and special projects.
  • Participate with CTP Monitors in the supervision of site preparation and executing tree planting at sites.
  • Record tree survival rate at sites with the help of monitors and report to CTP Program Manager.
  • Assist CTP Monitors in tree measurement and other data gathering at sites.
  • Help CTP Monitors in counting and recording fruit harvest.
  • Participate in events and educational trainings organized by CTP department.
  • Improve knowledge of Armenian language, culture, environment, economic situation, and living conditions of Armenians (particularly in remote villages and towns).
  • Assist CTP Program Manager in research and funding possibilities.
  • Assist other ATP program managers in Environmental Education programs.
  • Assist with Donor Visits to CTP community sites.

Candidate should be able to: solve problems, communicate well with a variety of groups and individuals, provide written and oral reports to supervisor as needed and provide weekly reports of the accomplished assignments, and represent ATP professionally to the local/international community, guests, and partners.
