ATP has released the third edition of its Building Bridges environmental education newsletter for students ages 8-12. This issue has a focus on forests, endangered animals, water, and recycling. The newsletter was developed by Heather Krafian and Sarah Hayes and illustrated by Alik Arzoumanian. Building Bridges is an innovative program to connect diasporan students with their environmental heritage.

This issue has a special focus on trees, and it was created as part of an innovative program to connect diasporan students with their environmental heritage. The newsletter was written and designed by the creators of the Gakavig children’s publication.

The 13-year-old founder of the Plant for the Planet organization, Felix Finkbeiner, was invited from Germany to deliver a speech at the opening of the UN’s International Year of the Forests. Felix explained the importance of stopping climate change, reducing global poverty, and planting trees. His organization started a new campaign which they have called “Stop talking, start planting.”

The animated movie was created by ATP volunteer Sebastien L’Hermitte and children from Yerevan School No. 119. The project helped the children express themselves, learn new animation techniques, and become educated about current environmental problems in Armenia.

This animated film was created by? Armenia Tree Project volunteer Sebastien L'Hermitte and Environmental Education program assistant Manya Gevorgyan. A group of children tour the Karin Nursery and ATP's "school? for trees" at the Michael and Virginia Ohanian Environmental Education Center.

Youth Art ContestPhoto Gallery from International Youth Art Contest Organized for
ATP’s 10th Anniversary

Two hundred students ages 7-12 from Armenia and the U.S. participated in an International Youth Art Competition launched by ATP in conjunction with its 10th anniversary. The contest was designed to raise awareness of Armenia’s environment and to foster a new generation of environmental stewards. The winners were on display at the ALMA Gallery in 2004.
