HSBC Building a Greener and Sustainable Business
in Armenia
YEREVAN (Source: HSBC Bank Armenia CJSC)--HSBC Bank Armenia
CJSC staff participated in a tree planting on April 12 in Yerevan in the
area near Tsitsernakaberd.
Employees of the bank decided to conduct a campaign for raising
awareness on how they could limit the impact of climate change in ways
that benefit our communities, cities, and the environment worldwide. With
the help of Armenia Tree Project (ATP), HSBC Armenia hopes to encourage
not only its employees but the whole community to volunteer time and energy
in activities related to the environment.
Within the scope of HSBC Climate Partnership, HSBC Armenia
has launched a number of environmental actions in its offices such as
recycling and energy saving. All HSBC offices recycle waste paper and
are engaged in reducing electricity use. HSBC Armenia encourages extensive
employee engagement in these activities to cultivate an understanding
that small contributions by many people can add up to an important total
input on the environment.
Corporate Responsibility has been a vital ingredient in HSBC’s
140 years of success. The company has always maintained that its first
social responsibility is to be successful, which allows it to invest in
new products and services.
HSBC Bank Armenia CJSC was the first international
bank to open in Armenia in 1996. The bank is a joint venture between the
HSBC Group, which has 70 percent ownership, and members of overseas Armenian
businesses. HSBC Bank Armenia CJSC has 10 offices in Yerevan, as well
as 39 ATMs located throughout the city. The bank serves 41,050 customers
and has 357 employees.
